Dare 2 Stand Out was founded to carry on the legacy of Danny Mapes. 

Danny was born with spina bifida, and although he had physical limitations, his dreams and heart knew no limits.  He was not afraid to dream big and taught others to do the same. He spent his life following his passions and overcoming the odds.

Some of his greatest passions in life included music, golf, and most importantly teaching. Growing up around teachers, he found his calling at an early age and used that strength throughout his life. More than just his contributions in teaching and coaching golf and baseball, he taught everyone that he met how to be a better person and to enjoy life a bit more.

Danny became the first disabled student to graduate from the Golf Academy of America and went on to be a golf instructor bringing his love of golf to others.

​

Danny was very passionate about making sure that everyone had the opportunity to experience the sports that he loved.  We are honored to continue this dream to provide resources and opportunities for those with disabilities to be able to participate in sports and break down barriers that have prevented them from doing so in the past.
